'High Five's' 15,000 gallon saltwater pond

Tropical reef swimming pool is the stuff of dreams!

If you’re like me, you’ve day-dreamed about owning a massive tropical pool.  But for 99.9% of us, financial and situational reality makes such a colossal undertaking a pipe-dream.   Thanks to the climate of South Florida, a big yard, and a healthy bank roll, High Five is living that dream.

With the help of Living Color Aquarium, he constructed a 15,000 US gallon in-ground tropical reef pool with a isolated center seating area for people to lounge and fish-watch.  In his recently uploaded photos and videos at 3reef.com (click the link to follow his build), we see a system that is not quite complete but is already overwhelming in scope.  A commercial R2K filtration system (mammoth skimmer and two fluidized sand towers) will keep the pool clean while gigantic heaters will keep the waters nice and toasty throughout winter.

The pool’s underwater decorations are your generic artificial coral affair.  Hopefully one day High Five will attempt some live coral fragments.
