Lunge feeding humpbacks almost make a meal out of kayakers and surfer [video]

By Shane Graber - Posted Nov 08, 2011 05:00 AM
Whale-watching groups are advised to stay a minimum of 100 feet away from foraging whales. This group of individuals didn't and almost became lunch.

Whale watcher Barbara Roettger had her camera rolling last week and caught some amazing footage near Santa Cruz, California. Two kayakers and a surfer were in the area when suddenly two humpback whales emerged out of nowhere lunge feeding on anchovies.

They were all very lucky that they weren't capsized during the incident!
