Squids 4 Kids - Get a Squid for Dissection in your Classroom
From their website:
Looking for an exciting, hands-on way to engage students of any age? Bring a Humboldt squid into your class! These animals are up to six feet long - not the squid many of us dissected in our biology classes!
Squids4Kids supplies frozen specimens of Humboldt squid for use in educational activities at any level. Our package includes illustrated background material and dissection guides. This outreach program is a collaboration between researchers at Hopkins Marine Station of Stanford University and NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service in Santa Cruz, CA. There is no charge, but we require that recipients submit a request form and follow-up survey and accept responsibility for shipping costs. All Humboldt squid are collected in conjunction with ongoing research or by sport fishermen who donate their excess catch. For schools in the Monterey Bay Area, it may be possible for one of our scientists to aid with the class dissection.
If you are a science or biology teacher, you definitely need to look into this for your students. It's a great opportunity! Head over to their website to get more information on this program:
