Trending: Fish petting and stoning

By Leonard Ho - Posted Oct 26, 2016 09:00 AM
There's an odd topic trending within the last 24 hours at Reddit.com, the self-described "front page of the internet." People are going crazy over video of fishkeepers petting and "gravel showering" their friendly fish.

Do you remember this video of an affectionate blood parrot cichilid we shared a couple of years ago?

Well, it became a huge sensation on Reddit.com yesterday.  In fact, it it inspired another redditor  - who professes to work at a public aquarium - to post this video of herself giving Atlantic reef fish "gravel shower spa treatment" as she calls it.

Whether you think treating fish like this is a good idea, you got to admit all the fishes really seem to be enjoying themselves ... like, *really* enjoying themselves.  It's equal parts distressing, bizarre, and aww-inspiring.

If your friend or family member excitedly asks you if they can play with your fish, consider yourself warned.
