The veliger larvae. The veliger stage is different in the gastropod and bivalves. The development of the vestigial shell is different, both have a velum, but the torsion that creates the single spiral shell of gastropods and development of the bivalve shell of oysters and other bivalves changes the shape and structure of the veliger larvae of these two huge Classes of mollusks.
