Anybody want 3,000 protein skimmers?

Oh, the crazy things you find on eBay! At least 2,000, if not closer to 3,000 D&D Marine Enterprises protein skimmers acquired via a company bankruptcy are up for sale for $16,000. Apparently there's too many units for the seller to physically count.

Holy mountain of protein skimmers, Batman!

skimmercache2.JPGD&D Marine Enterprises is a small marketing brand not often encountered in Western reefkeeping.  The 2,000 to 3,000 skimmers in this buy-it-now listing are comprised of an unspecified mix of two 220V models: one rated for 110 gallons (possibly D&D Typhoon) and another rated for 300 gallons (possibly D&D Terminator II, photo right).  The ratings are rather generous, as manufacturers are often guilty of, but that's neither here nor there.

The skimmers may or may not be new judging by the seller's disclosure that the "300GAL version need new impellers."  However, the listing does state the condition as "New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item."  Let confusion ensue.

This isn't exactly important news nor are we encouraging any enterprising aquarist to purchase these protein skimmers.  It's just not everyday you find 3,000 protein skimmers for sale on eBay ... or anywhere for that matter.
