Aqua Illumination announces Prime HD LED

By Leonard Ho - Posted Jun 15, 2016 10:00 AM
The AI Prime HD is the next evolution of the popular Prime LED light with 10% more power using the "HD" LED puck found in the latest AI Hydra lights.

The Prime HD retains the same form factor and feature set as the original Prime (notably built-in WiFi control and integration with AI's current LED systems).  The Prime HD still utilizes a single 13-LED puck like the original, but it has been modified with new mix of LEDs and a 10% boost in power (55 watts vs 50 watts).  The new LED puck is configured in the following way:

  • 3x Cree Cool White XP-G2
  • 3x Cree Blue XP-E2
  • 3x Cree Royal Blue XT-E
  • 1x SemiLED 415nm Violet
  • 1x Cree Green XP-E2
  • 1x OSRAM Deep Red OSLON
  • 1x SemiLED 405nm UV

Comparing the supplied spectrum analysis, the Prime HD outputs more light around the "actinic" (400-420nm) region than its predecessor.

Available June 15, 2016, the retail prices are:

  • USD $225 (before sales tax)
  • GBP 230£ (includes VAT)
  • Euros 265€ (includes VAT)

Note: There are no upgrade path available to original Prime owners.

Aqua Illumination supplied us with a information packet (PDF) with more information about the Prime HD.
