Corallimorphs with split personalities

By Leonard Ho - Posted Feb 06, 2014 11:55 AM
Ultra Coral Australia recently acquired two mushroom corals with special characteristics. The first is a Rhodactis sp. discoved by Nic Dos Santos that resembles the famous (and expensive) WWC "Bounce" - a deep purple polyp with pronounced contrasting orange "bubbles."

The second corallimorph is this "confused" specimen that appears almost if someone grafted two completely different mushrooms together, inspiring Ultra Coral Australia to name it the Pinkenstein.  What would normally be a commonplace metallic green polyp is disrupted by a significant section of hot (and striped) pink.
