The Dragon Behind the Glass

'The Dragon Behind the Glass: A True Story of Power, Obsession, and the World's Most Coveted Fish' is a new book by Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship journalist, Emily Voigt. With equal parts science and journalistic storytelling, she chronicles the lore of highly prized Asian arowanas.

If you've seen the 1998 movie 'The Red Violin,' 'The Dragon Behind the Glass' is reminiscent in its storytelling. Voigt's journalistic pursuit spans fifteen nations (from the USA to Singapore, Brazil to Myramar) in her quest to explore the science, legend, and even criminal underbelly of the world's most prestigious fish.  The sum product of her effort is an entertaining and educational read for aquarists and non-aquarists alike.

The book is published by Scribner and is available in hardcover, e-book, and audio book formats.

I'm a passionate aquarist of over 30 years, a coral reef lover, and the blog editor for Advanced Aquarist. While aquarium gadgets interest me, it's really livestock (especially fish), artistry of aquariums, and "method behind the madness" processes that captivate my attention.
