Another illegal coral seizure in Cebu

11 sacks of corals totaling 440 specimens of Acropora and Pocillopora sp. were seized by Cebu's Anti-Illegal Fishing Task Force on March 28, 2011. These corals were not intended for live sale to the aquarium market, although (according to the reports) some would likely find their way into aquariums as either decorative curio or crushed substrate material.

Nova Southeastern University has issued a news release announcing construction is underway for the United States' first dedicated coral reef research center. The planned facility is massive (86,000 square-foot), with a build cost of $30 million. Read on for NSU's news release.
